Acknowledgement of Country

June 28, 2024 by carrumps | Comments Off on Acknowledgement of Country

We would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of this beautiful country that we are gathering on, the Boonwurrung.

We are born from this land.
We belong to this land.
We respect this land.
We should only take what we need from this land.
There is a place for everyone on this land.

On ANZAC Day, we represented Carrum PS as School Captains to MC  The Dawn Service at The Beauty Spot in Carrum. Our speech included the story of one of Carrum’s fallen soldiers, Private Cecil Andrews whose name is on the monument, we also laid two wreaths in remembrance of our soldiers. Over five hundred locals came to the ceremony! This was a huge honour to be placed in a big role on such an important day.

Wetlands Matter launches!!

The Wetlands Matter project is a partnership between Carrum Primary School, the Monash University Virtual School, and Alan Johnson, Koorie Engagement Support Officer, Northern Peninsula Network.

“A team of eight students (pictured below) have come together to accomplish a very important goal. We are putting our heart into creating a website about frogs and wetlands. When you are dropping your kids off or picking them up, look for the QR Code displays around the school and it will take you to our website. On the Wetlands Matter website you will be able to read what we have been learning about and you will hopefully be able to spread awareness of our precious frogs.”
