Big Green Festival

294982_331425900249253_73725664_nThe Big Green Festival is a community environment sharing event we showcase at Carrum Primary School.

We held our first Big Green Festival in December 2008 and celebrated with stunning music performances by Stephen Cummings, Lisa Miller and Rebecca Barnard. Environmental activists, short films and gourmet food, filled our School Oval.

In December 2010, our second Big Green Festival included music performances by Lisa Miller, Jordie Lane, Broderick Smith, Matt Walker, and The Sand Pebbles.

In 2012, the Big Green Festival featured a two day environment event. On Day One, we hosted a Big Green Schools Conference for students and teachers. They listened to & questioned environmental guru, Arron Wood (2007 Prime Minister’s Environmentalist of the Year Award Winner), joined a Q&A session with Mark Dreyfus (Federal Member for Isaacs), judged the Big Green Short Film Competition, experienced ‘hands on’ action in our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen & Garden, and developed big green ideas for the City of Kingston & the world.

At the 2014 BIG GREEN FESTIVAL our kitchen cooked up a spectacular selection for the Curry Shack, we had Hootenanny Foot Stomping Music by the Merri Creek Pickers and The Shenanigans, the BBQ was running hot with Gourmet Sausages, our fabulously popular Big Green Festival Cake Stall was fabulously popular, unique Jams & Seeds were available from our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen & Garden, plus local Environmental Activists spread the word.

Our 2016 Big Green Festival was held on Saturday 26 November. Due to severe weather warnings our 2017 Big Green Festival (2 December) was cancelled.

Our 2018 Festival will be held on Saturday 1 December from 12-4pm.
